Travel Lust: Romantic Getaways

October is my favorite month period. I love it even more than my own birth month (March) primarily because it seems that everything amazing happens in October. On the 27th of this month, in fact, is my 3 year wedding anniversary which I am incredibly thankful and excited about. So it dawned on me today that I should showcase a few places I’d like to travel with my husband to and have a lovely vacation. I’ve written about sustainable and biodynamic wine before (here) and how fantastic it is because if I’m going to indulge I’d love for it to be organic. I came across the beautiful winery MacRostie Winery and Vineyards while I was checking out vineyards in Sonoma and Napa and I’m fully ready to pack a suitcase and go. Local Restaurants – Amy’s Drive Thru Ca’Momi Farmstead Restaurant For some unknown reason I have such a draw to Cape Cod. Maybe it’s the preppy vibe located perfectly on the water or the fact that I’m married to a New Englander – either …

Holiday Lust: SHA Wellness Clinic

A couple of months ago I was reading Organic Spa Magazine and I came across the most perfect of perfect retreats. The SHA Wellness Clinic in Alicante, Spain is in fact that place. Could you imagine taking a wellness sojourn to Spain?! Well, let me just say that I can and I want to go here! Rated one of the best international spas in 2015, the SHA Wellness Clinic is so much more than a spa. With a focus on sustainability, this luxury spa hones in on health and supports everything from stress relief to weight loss to overcoming tobacco addiction. The location itself is absolutely gorgeous (see above) and is, in and of itself, its own vacation destination. If adventure and activities are your thing there’s no reason to be relegated just to the Clinic, in fact, there are an array of options that SHA can organize for you. Beaches, leisure and sports activities, shopping, culture the town is flush with possibilities. The Resort’s grounds are beautifully designed by Carlos Gilardi and Elvira Blanco …

Swoon Worthy Sojourn – Miraval Resort & Spa

It’s this time of year when it’s negative a billion degrees outside that all I can think about is a nice warm wellness vacation, cue Miraval Resorts in Arizona. I’ve had my eye on this award winning resort for a few years now. The weather in Arizona this time of year is perfect, not too hot and not too cold. Nestled by the mountains (added perk) the scenery is gorgeous. What I love about this resort is that each guest can customize their stay to whatever they want. Are you going to relax via the spa, meditate and ground yourself in the present or work out some demons – whatever it is it’s your experience and yours alone. Miraval Resort & Spa’s mission is clear – Miraval helps individuals to live and feel better, resulting in more a more magnificent life, through a focus on healthy and sustainable living. The Miraval experience is: fresh, locally-sourced ingredients to make gorgeously flavorful food; signature self-discovery and growth activities that make the heart-pump and the head re-think; fabulous …

Serenbe – An Eco-Community

Just outside of Atlanta’s busy metropolis sits Serenbe – a 1,000 acre eco-community founded by Marie and Steve Nygren and nestled in the Chattahoochee Hill Country. As Atlanta continued to grow and prosper in the 1990’s so did the need for suburban style development to accommodate the growing population. In an effort to protect the 40,000 acres of rural land outside of Atlanta the Nygren’s got together with other local land owners and discussed the most effective way to co-exist with the inevitable development while still keeping the beauty of the land intact. Thus, Serenbe was born. I mean! Can we just discuss how charming this little village is! I’m dying to go! The community is sectioned into three townships which each have a focus. Selbourne is focused on the visual, performance and culinary arts; Grange (currently under construction) is focused on agriculture; and Mado (undeveloped) will focus on health and wellness – think hotels, spas and holistic services. Selbourne really has everything one could possibly need – two restaurants, a wineshop with a cabaret …

Holiday Lust

While it sounds unbearably cliche there is no better time to get a fresh start on life than in the New Year. If you’re anything like me, there is the customary list of 2014 accomplishments you’re ready to achieve and vacations you’re dying to go on. One vacation in particular that I’ve been lusting over for a while now is a week at the Deer Lake Lodge in Texas. This is a resort solely dedicated to wellness, health, rest and rejuvenation – by that I mean a 4 day juice fast and cleansing regimen designed to bring life back to, well, your life. I even have the home page saved in my bookmarks because this year is going to be my year! Seriously, I can think of no greater place to restore wellness to my body and mind than by staying at this beautiful resort. I mean who wouldn’t want to detox here? Hello! It’s like summer camp for adults except way more expensive and no bad food. I just love these adorable cabins. Lounging on my …
