Wellness Wednesday: Quick Afternoon Snacks

Afternoon slumps are the real deal and without the proper energy boosting snack to make it through, those late day hours become quite the chore. I am often asked what my healthy go to snacks are and it gave me the idea to post about some of my favorites here. The trick, for me, is to keep it simple. If I’m in a hurry there is nothing quite like apple slices and almond butter or trail mix. Ideally, I’ve planned ahead for the week and baked my favorite kale chips recipe so I can grab a bag of these as I’m running from appointment to appointment. Or, if I have some time to spare I simply love to make myself a blueberry power protein smoothie to sip on while I answer emails and what not. There are so many different ways to snack in a healthy way there’s simply no reason to hit up the drive thru line or drink yet another cup of coffee. Wellness Wednesday: 5 Superfoods + Pitaya Anti-Aging Smoothie Bowl

Superfoods really are the best foods, which I know sounds a bit silly to say, but anything that can heal me from the inside out, make my skin glow, give me extra energy and improve my overall quality of life I’m into. As a longtime lover of raw kraut just imagine my elation when I discovered Farmhouse Culture at my local Whole Foods. This stuff is legit. This is not just your average kraut oh no! The recipes they have created make you wonder how you ever lived without them. From Classic Carraway to Smoked Jalapeño (my favorite) this company has completely reimagined raw kraut. Founded in 2006, Kathryn Lukas began developing her signature recipes of raw kraut and man did she hit a home run. What really struck me about this company is that 99% of the ingredients they use are sourced within 20 miles of their production facility. As you know from reading my blog I am a sucker for a company that is sustainable and mindful of the planet and our future on it. Now I have yet to try all the flavors but believe me I am going to! So far I’ve had Classic Caraway, Smoked Jalapeño and …
